Overview


Mr. Fernández-Paoli was an original Member and later on served as Senior Counsel at Delgado & Fernández, LLC. He had a distinguished career in the law, as well as in civic and military service. He was an active litigator for almost 60 years, with extensive experience in banking law, insurance defense, construction law, and commercial litigation. He argued numerous cases before the Puerto Rico Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, where his insights contributed to the establishment of enduring legal precedents across various areas of the law. At Delgado & Fernández, LLC we honor his memory and commitment to our firm.

Throughout his career, he was a member of the Board of Bar Examiners of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court and offered seminars on construction law and litigation practices to his peers and trade organizations. Mr. Fernández-Paoli served on the Boards of various organizations, including as Vice President of the Board of Trustees of the Sacred Heart University in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Puerto Rican Cement and Oriental Bank & Trust. He was also a member and General Counsel of the Board of Directors for the Associated General Contractors of America, Puerto Rico Chapter. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1961, and received his law degree from the University of Puerto Rico in 1964.

A retired Captain of the United States Army, Mr. Fernández-Paoli was awarded the Bronze Star Medal by the President of the United States in recognition of his bravery, selfless sacrifice and distinguished service in Vietnam as part of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment.
