Overview
Sashmarie Zuhey Rivera-López joined Delgado & Fernández, LLC in 2022. She leads the Labor and Employment Practice Group.
Sashmarie has successfully litigated labor and employment matters in both state and federal courts as well as administrative agencies. Her experience practicing before courts and administrative agencies, including the Puerto Rico and federal courts, as well as the Puerto Rico Anti-Discrimination Unit, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Fair Labor Standards Bureau, has provided Sashmarie with the ability to wisely advise her clients in making practical business decisions. She defends employers against claims of wrongful dismissal, discrimination, sexual harassment, labor harassment, retaliation, and other employment related issues. Sashmarie routinely provides advice to clients on requests for reasonable accommodations, drug-testing policies, employment contracts, employment policies and procedures, internal investigations, disciplinary processes, and compliance.
Prior to joining Delgado & Fernández, LLC, Sashmarie served as public policy analyst at the Department of Health of Puerto Rico and as an Associate attorney at Littler Mendelson, P.C. She also worked at the University of Puerto Rico Law School Legal Aid Clinic and at the Pro Bono Program where she gained litigation experience and successfully counseled employers on labor law matters.
Mrs. Rivera-López is also a Notary Public.
